Action taken against 122 tax defaulters
The annual revenue collection target for the current fiscal year stands at Rs 8.44 billion.

KATHMANDU: The Inland Revenue Office (IRO) Makawanpur, Hetauda has initiated legal action against 122 taxpayers who have not paid taxes for a long time.
Chief Tax Officer Yukta Prasad Subedi informed that legal proceedings have begun to freeze the bank accounts, import-export activities, and properties of the registered taxpayers who have failed to pay taxes for years.
According to the office, over Rs 600 million in dues remain to be collected from these defaulters.
“Despite repeated verbal and written notices, these taxpayers kept delaying payments. That’s why we’ve now moved ahead with actions such as freezing their bank accounts, business transactions, real estate, and import-export operations,” said Chief Officer Subedi. He added that after initiating legal action, some taxpayers have started coming forward to pay their dues.
Meanwhile, the IRO Hetauda has collected Rs 4.87 billion in revenue in the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2081/82.
This collection represents 82.32% of the revenue target.
According to Officer Subedi, the target for the nine-month period of FY 2081/82 was Rs 6.04 billion, of which Rs 4.87 billion has been collected so far.
The annual revenue collection target for the current fiscal year stands at Rs 8.44 billion.
The office has a total of 34,229 income taxpayers, 5,953 VAT taxpayers, 1,611 excise duty taxpayers, 713 under withhold category, and 84,429 individual taxpayers.
Subedi attributed the growth in revenue collection compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year to an increase in economic activities, improved loan accessibility from banks and financial institutions, better tax policies, regular market monitoring, taxpayer education programs, and stricter efforts in collecting outstanding dues.
