KATHMANDU: Dr. Mukul Dhakal, the suspended General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has launched a scathing attack on party president Rabi Lamichhane, calling him a “local gangster” and labeling his repeated run-ins with the law as the behavior of a “repeat offender.”

In a fiery social media post today, Dr. Dhakal accused Lamichhane of damaging the party’s credibility, stating that his frequent legal troubles have become a major hurdle for both the party’s growth and the broader campaign for alternative politics in Nepal.

“Rabi Dai has court cases in nearly 18–20 different courts. Even if he is cleared by one, he might get arrested from another. So, don’t be surprised if he keeps going to jail. Gangsters and thugs in your own neighborhood behave the same way,” Dhakal wrote.

He further remarked, “People who repeatedly go in and out of jail are commonly known as ‘Patke’ — Rabi Dai has now become one.”

Dhakal blamed Lamichhane’s legal entanglements for creating stagnation within RSP, saying no one in the party can take decisive leadership and the alternative political movement remains unstable.

“This situation only benefits the traditional parties like the Nepali Congress, UML, and Maoists. As bitter as it sounds, it is the truth,” Dhakal concluded.
