Mumbai Indians thrash CSK by 9 wickets

KATHMANDU: Mumbai Indians continued their explosive form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a commanding 9-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium.

Chasing a target of 177, Mumbai sealed the win with 26 balls to spare.

Skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front with a calm yet powerful knock of 76* off 45 deliveries, including 4 fours and 6 sixes.

He was named the Player of the Match.

Supporting him in style, Suryakumar Yadav blazed his way to 68 runs from just 30 balls, hammering 6 fours and 5 sixes in a whirlwind innings.

Chennai’s bowlers struggled to contain Mumbai’s batting firepower.

Mahesh Pathirana conceded 34 runs in just 10 balls, while Jamie Overton leaked 29 runs in his 2 overs.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings were put in to bat after losing the toss and posted 176/5 in their 20 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja anchored the innings with a solid 53 off 35 balls, while Shivam Dube added a crucial 50-run knock.

Mumbai’s bowling was spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, who took 2 key wickets for 25 runs in his four overs.

However, Ashwini Kumar proved expensive, giving away 42 runs in just 2 overs despite taking a wicket.

With this third consecutive win, Mumbai Indians have moved up to sixth place in the points table with 8 points.
