KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has expelled a party member from Sudurpaschim Province for allegedly supporting the emerging political movement led by former Deputy Prime Minister Bhim Rawal.

According to a statement issued by UML Sudurpaschim Secretary Ran Bahadur Chand, Balagiri Kunwar, a member of the Provincial Accounts Committee, has been removed from the party, including his general membership, for violating party discipline.

The statement cites Article 80 (1) and (2) of the party statute, stating Kunwar was found involved in activities against the party.

The action was taken under Article 81 (1) of the UML Statute 2049 (as amended in the First Statute Convention, 2078).

Following his expulsion, Kunwar has been openly supporting Bhim Rawal, the former Vice-Chairman of UML, who is spearheading the formation of a new political force. Rawal is currently leading the ‘Motherland Awakening Campaign Nepal’, a movement positioning itself as a nationalist alternative in Nepal’s political landscape.
