Justice delayed in Siraha woman’s death
The accused fled to India, and police say they’re still searching.

KATHMANDU: Five days after 24-year-old Anandidevi Saday, a Dalit woman from Nawarajpur-3, Sirahaa was found hanging in her home, police have made no arrests in the attempted rape case she had filed.
She had accused two locals — Sanjeev Kumar Yadav (22) and Shyamsundar Yadav (32) — of sexually assaulting her in December.
The accused fled to India, and police say they’re still searching.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family faced pressure from both the accused’s families and police to settle the case with money.
Fear and threats kept the family from pursuing further legal action.
Rights activists say Anandi was under extreme stress before her death.
Despite clear evidence and serious allegations, the accused remain at large and the case remains unresolved.
