Rabi Lamichhane files habeas corpus petition in SC

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, the president of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has filed a writ petition for habeas corpus in the Supreme Court.

The petition, filed on Sunday, seeks his release from custody, where he is being held in connection with charges of cooperative fraud.

The Supreme Court administration has confirmed that the petition is scheduled for a hearing on Monday.

Lamichhane’s legal team is requesting his release, arguing that the detention order should be annulled.

However, as the resolution of the petition may take some time, the habeas corpus petition was filed to expedite the matter.
