RPP President Lingden, leaders arrested

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) President Rajendra Lingden and other party leaders have been arrested by the police.

They were detained inside the Singha Durbar premises while protesting against the government.

The RPP lawmakers had been demonstrating at the Parliamentary Party office located in Singha Durbar.

The leaders were arrested as they were heading towards Baneshwor to continue their protest movement.

Among those detained were RPP Vice President Buddhiman Tamang, Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi, and lawmaker Deepak Singh.

The police took them into custody during their attempt to mobilize their protest.

Following his arrest, RPP President Rajendra Lingden stated, “We are all ready to be imprisoned. This is what an authoritarian government does. We are not surprised by this. We are all prepared to face detention.”
