10 killed in accidents, drowning, and electrocution

KATHMANDU: At least 10 people lost their lives in separate incidents of road accidents, drowning, and electrocution across various districts of Nepal in the past 24 hours, according to Nepal Police.

The fatalities were reported from Lalitpur, Kapilvastu, Taplejung, Baitadi, Sunsari, Bardiya, Surkhet, Kanchanpur, Siraha, and Banke districts.

In Lalitpur, a two-year-old boy, Prajan Sanyal, died on the spot after being hit by a tractor (Baagmati Province 01-003 K 8730) in Mahalaxmi Municipality–7, Lubhu Changathali. Police have taken the driver into custody and launched an investigation.

In Kapilvastu’s Buddhabhumi Municipality–1, a collision between a tractor and a motorcycle claimed the life of 60-year-old Gautam KC. Similarly, in Taplejung’s Faktanglung Rural Municipality–6, 28-year-old Bhuchiring Sherpa died on the spot when a tractor (Me 1Ta 7758) veered off the road.

In Baitadi’s Dilasaini Rural Municipality–6, 27-year-old Bishnuraj Bhatt of Dogadakedar–4 died after falling from a moving bus en route to Panjyun from Gokuleshwar.

In Sunsari, a car accident in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City–20, Panipiya, killed 40-year-old Bishnu Raut of Itahari–1. Two others were injured and are currently receiving treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

In Bardiya, a road accident in Madhuwan Municipality–3 resulted in the death of 28-year-old Janku Tharu of Madhuwan–2. One other individual was injured.

In Surkhet’s Birendranagar Municipality–2, 55-year-old pedestrian Kalibahadur Budha from Jumla’s Hima Rural Municipality–3 died after being hit by a vehicle.

In Kanchanpur’s Laljhadi Rural Municipality–6, 11-year-old Siddharth BK drowned while swimming with friends in a local stream. His body was recovered after a search operation, according to Area Police Office Belauri.

In Siraha’s Sukhipur Municipality–2, four-year-old Dheeraj Yadav drowned in a pond near his home in Jagatpur Tol.

In Banke, 28-year-old Chanbabu Khan of Nepalgunj–11 died of electrocution while installing a sub-meter at a residence in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City–1.

Police Headquarters stated that investigations into all the incidents are underway.
