12 held across Nepal with banned narcotics

KATHMANDU: Twelve individuals have been arrested from various districts of Nepal for possession of banned narcotic substances.

The arrests were made in Makwanpur, Chitwan, Morang, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Surkhet, Sankhuwasabha, and other districts.

According to the Narcotics Control Bureau, Biratnagar branch, 19-year-old Bishal Sarki of Huprachaur, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-4, and 31-year-old Saran Dangi of Sundar Haraicha Municipality-2 were arrested from Pipalbot, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-15, and Bank Road, Biratnagar Metropolitan City-15, respectively. They were found in possession of a substance resembling brown heroin.

In Chitwan, Shantikumar Mahato (61) and Bishal Sunar (25), both residents of Bharatpur-26, were arrested from Sisuwa, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-26. Police seized controlled drug Tramadol and a substance believed to be cannabis, as reported by the Chanauli Area Police Office.

Similarly, in Kailali, 25-year-old Sanjukumar Chaudhary of Dudhiyā, Kailari Rural Municipality-8, was arrested from Sadakpur, Kailari-1. In Kanchanpur, three individuals were taken into custody: 39-year-old Karan Bahadur Deuba and 35-year-old Rohit Shahi of Sakayal, Ganyapdhura Rural Municipality-3, Dadeldhura, were arrested from Hanumanthan, Belauri Municipality-1.

Likewise, 25-year-old Ram Bahadur Bista of Shuklaphanta Municipality-11 was apprehended from Gaddachauki, Bhimdatta Municipality-11. These arrests were confirmed by the Sudurpaschim Provincial Police Office, Mahendranagar.

According to the Gothikanda Police Post, Anish Nepali (21) of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-14, Banke, was arrested from Katuka, Birendranagar Municipality-14, Surkhet. He was found with a substance resembling brown sugar.

Meanwhile, in Sankhuwasabha, Ram Bahadur Adhikari (28) and Keshav Ghimire (26) of Tirtire, Dharmadevi Municipality-4, along with Devendra Thapa (38) of Pulung, Madi Municipality-6, were arrested with a substance suspected to be opium

. The arrest was made by the Chainpur Area Police Office.

Police have stated that further investigation is underway in all the cases.
