SC reviews petition against revised governor appointment rules

KATHMANDU: A petition filed against the revised criteria for the appointment of officials and members of public bodies under the Ministry of Finance, including the Governor, is set for hearing at the Supreme Court today.

The case has been assigned to the joint bench of Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Nityananda Pandey.

The Supreme Court had previously issued an interim order instructing the government not to implement the revised criteria.

With the order in place, the government is currently barred from appointing a Governor under the amended provisions.
