KATHMANDU: The Europa League semifinal picture is now complete with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Athletic Club, and Bodo/Glimt booking their spots in the final four.

Spanish side Athletic Club advanced after a 2-0 win over Rangers in the second leg on Thursday.

Following a goalless draw in the first leg, goals from Oihan Sancet and Nico Williams sealed the victory in Bilbao.

Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt edged past Lazio in a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 3-2. Lazio had won the second leg 3-1, leveling the aggregate score at 3-3, but Bodo’s earlier 2-0 first-leg win proved vital.

Tottenham Hotspur earned a narrow 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt thanks to a goal from Dominic Solanke, securing a 2-1 aggregate win for the Premier League side.

In the most thrilling encounter, Manchester United defeated Lyon 5-4 in a rollercoaster second leg at Old Trafford, clinching a 7-6 aggregate victory. The first leg had ended 2-2.

United appeared to be cruising with a 2-0 lead in regular time, but Lyon fought back to level. Extra time brought even more drama, with five goals scored.

Despite trailing by two in the added period, United staged a stunning comeback, capped by Harry Maguire’s decisive header in the final minute from a Casemiro cross.
