Two women killed in EV vehicle accident

KATHMANDU: Two women lost their lives in a tragic road accident involving an electric vehicle in Makwanpur district on Friday morning.

According to police, the incident took place at around 1 AM at Dharampani in Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipality-2, along the Kanti Lokpath.

The electric vehicle, bearing registration number Ba. Pra. 01-006 Kha 7072, was en route from Kathmandu to Hetauda when it skidded off the road and plunged nearly 200 meters down.

The deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Nilam Devi Raut of Durgabhawani Rural Municipality-5, Rautahat, and 13-year-old Manushee Magar of Bagmati Rural Municipality-7, Sarlahi.

Police reported that the vehicle was carrying 16 passengers, including the driver.

Eleven others sustained moderate injuries, while two people were seriously hurt.

All the injured are currently receiving treatment at Hetauda Hospital and Makwanpur Cooperative Hospital.

The driver, 29-year-old Kamal Bahadur Darlami of Bagmati Rural Municipality-5, Sarlahi, suffered a head injury and is undergoing treatment at Hetauda Hospital.
