KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has directed employees to ensure transparency, efficiency, and prudent resource management in the execution of projects, development work, and resource utilization.

Speaking at a workshop on clearing pending accounts, held in Butwal today, the Minister emphasized the importance of minimizing pending work and, where it does occur, focusing on resolving it promptly.

He urged employees to be mindful of the public’s expectation for good governance and transparency in every service, while also aligning with the government’s prioritization of financial discipline.

Minister Dahal highlighted ongoing issues such as delayed projects, stalled initiatives, and deteriorating infrastructure. He called on all offices and staff to address these challenges.

He further advised employees to ensure that ongoing projects are completed on time and operate effectively.

Dahal stressed that the quality of public services directly reflects the government’s accountability, urging employees to work in a manner that instills a sense of government presence and responsibility in the public.

Refuting the notion that nothing has been accomplished in Nepal, Dahal pointed out that it is crucial to communicate the government’s progress, impact, and changes to the citizens.

The workshop, coordinated by the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office in Pokhara, also featured Ministry Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma, who assured that delayed projects and poor execution would no longer be tolerated.

He instructed employees and technical staff to ensure minimal disruption to the public during road construction projects and avoid transport blockages.

The event also included training on pending account management, road and bridge construction, and maintenance issues, with insights from the Director-General of the Department of Roads, Ramhari Pokharel, and Executive Director of the Road Board, Ganesh Bahadur KC.
