KATHMANDU: A 5-year-old girl from Lokhim, Thulung Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality-9, who was injured in an attack by her father, has been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment via a chartered helicopter arranged by the local government.

The child, Pabitra Tamang, was injured early in the morning when her 32-year-old father, Chamkumar Tamang, attacked her with a sharp weapon.

After the initial treatment at Thulung Dudhkoshi Hospital, the girl was referred to Kathmandu for advanced care.

The local government arranged the helicopter transport at their own expense.

The municipal chairman, Asim Rai, stated, “We provided initial treatment as soon as the incident occurred. Since further treatment was not possible here, we decided to charter a helicopter to ensure the girl’s life was saved.”

The father, who attacked his daughter with a khukuri, fled the scene and is currently being searched for by the Solukhumbu District Police, according to DSP Dwarikaprasad Ghimire.
