KATHMANDU: Nepal’s national cricket team’s ranking has taken a hit after losing to Kuwait in the final of the four-nation T20 International series held in Hong Kong. Nepal lost by three runs, missing out on the title.
As a result, Nepal dropped one place, moving to 18th in the T20I rankings. Kuwait, which was ranked lower than Nepal, delivered an unexpected blow to the team.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee’s performance failed to meet expectations.
Once ranked second in the T20I all-rounder standings, Dipendra has now slipped to third place.
His rating dropped from 233 to 209, tying with England’s Liam Livingstone.
Due to Dipendra’s declining form, Australia’s Marcus Stoinis has moved up to second place, while India’s Hardik Pandya remains in the top spot with a rating of 252.
In the Hong Kong series, Dipendra’s performance was inconsistent.
He didn’t get a chance to bat against Qatar and went wicketless, conceding 26 runs in 4 overs.
Against Kuwait, he scored a quick 31 runs off 12 balls, but in the final, he was dismissed for a duck.
With the ball, he bowled just one over in the final, failing to take a wicket.
