22 lakh children to receive Vitamin A nationwide this weekend
According to the Department of Health Services, the initiative will target children aged 6 months to 59 months, providing them with Vitamin A capsules.

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population will administer Vitamin A capsules to around 22 lakh children across the country this Saturday and Sunday under the “National Vitamin A Program.”
According to the Department of Health Services, the initiative will target children aged 6 months to 59 months, providing them with Vitamin A capsules.
Additionally, approximately 19 lakh children between the ages of 1 and 5 will receive deworming medication. Malnutrition screening for children will also take place on the same day.
The program will involve the deployment of around 52,000 female health volunteers and 15,000 health workers.
The National Vitamin A Program, initially launched in 1993 in eight districts, was expanded nationwide in 2003.
The deworming initiative began in 1999 and was rolled out in all districts by 2010.
Since 2007, Vitamin A supplementation has been provided twice a year in the months of Kartik and Baisakh.
