Man held for sexual assault posing in fake army uniform

KATHMANDU: A man has been arrested on charges of sexual assault after posing in a fake Nepal Army uniform and creating fear to coerce the victim.
The incident involves a 30-year-old Padam Kumar Tamang from Falgunanda Rural Municipality-3 in Panchthar.
Tamang used a fake uniform with the rank of Assistant Sergeant Major to deceive and intimidate a woman, promising marriage before assaulting her.
He was arrested on Chaitra 31 by a police team deployed from the Ilam District Police Office in Ilam Municipality-7.
Police have stated that his detention has been extended by 7 days for further investigation.
Tamang had previously been involved in several criminal activities, including public offenses, theft, and inappropriate conduct, according to the police.
