Super over victory sends Delhi Capitals to top of IPL table

KATHMANDU: IPL clash on Wednesday night, Delhi Capitals edged past Rajasthan Royals in a nail-biting Super Over to climb to the top of the points table with 10 points, bringing their playoff dreams within striking distance.
Chasing a target of 189, Rajasthan Royals managed 188 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs.
The match headed into a Super Over, where Rajasthan struggled against Mitchell Starc’s lethal bowling.
Despite Riyan Parag hitting a boundary off a no-ball, he was run out shortly after, followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal falling while attempting a second run.
Rajasthan could only post 12 runs in the Super Over.
Delhi’s reply was calm and calculated. Facing Sandeep Sharma, KL Rahul picked up 2, 4, and 1 off the first three balls.
Then, Tristan Stubbs sealed the victory with a towering six, securing the win in just four balls.
Earlier, Delhi set a target of 189 after being put to bat first.
Abishek Porel top-scored with 49, while skipper Axar Patel smashed a quickfire 34 off 14 balls and also impressed with the ball, conceding just 23 runs and taking a wicket.
For Rajasthan, Jaiswal (51 off 37) and Nitish Rana (51 off 28) tried their best to anchor the chase. Skipper Sanju Samson added 31 off 19 but had to retire hurt, which derailed their momentum.
Despite a strong start, Rajasthan couldn’t cross the finish line, and Delhi walked away with one of the most thrilling wins of the season.
