KATHMANDU: Arsenal have booked their spot in the UEFA Champions League semifinals with a commanding aggregate victory over 14-time champions Real Madrid.
In the second leg of the quarterfinals on Wednesday night, the Gunners delivered another impressive performance, defeating Real Madrid 2-1. Combined with their 3-0 triumph in the first leg, Arsenal sealed a comprehensive 5-1 aggregate win.
Bukayo Saka opened the scoring in the 65th minute, giving Arsenal the lead. Although Vinícius Júnior quickly equalized just two minutes later, substitute Gabriel Martinelli struck late to secure the win and send the Spanish giants crashing out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, in the other quarterfinal clash, Inter Milan held Bayern Munich to a dramatic 2-2 draw. The Italian side advanced to the semifinals with a narrow 4-3 win on aggregate.
The semifinal lineup is now set: Barcelona will face Inter Milan, while Arsenal prepare for a high-stakes showdown against Paris Saint-Germain.
