KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr. Sunil Sharma has expressed serious concern over the ongoing protest by community school teachers in Kathmandu.

Dr. Sharma criticized the government’s treatment of teachers and urged immediate action to address their grievances.

He emphasized the need to create an environment where teachers can return to schools with dignity rather than being forced onto the streets.

“It is disgraceful to see the torchbearers of education standing on the streets. At a time when the quality of education in community schools is already deteriorating, this protest has further deepened the crisis,” he stated.

Dr. Sharma warned that disrespecting teachers could become a major obstacle to the transformation of Nepali society.

He called on the government to take swift and necessary steps to resolve the issue.

The teachers have been protesting in the capital for the past 15 days, demanding that their concerns be addressed.
