KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a recent shooting incident in Devangunj Rural Municipality of Sunsari district.

The arrested have been identified as Shiv Kumar Mehta (21) of Devangunj-7, and Raveen Kumar Yadav and Pintu Yadav of Devanganj-1, according to Sunsari’s Superintendent of Police, Suman Kumar Timilsina.

During the incident, Shiv Kumar Mehta sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment under police surveillance in Biratnagar.

Authorities confirmed that while three individuals involved in the case have been apprehended, three others remain at large.

Among those still on the run is Kameshwar Yadav, who is believed to have played a direct role in the shooting.

SP Timilsina stated that both the arrested and the absconding suspects have a history of criminal activities and are known to operate along the border area.

Preliminary investigations suggest that all six individuals involved in the case have criminal backgrounds and are reportedly listed as wanted in India as well.

Raveen Kumar Yadav, one of the arrested individuals, was previously involved in marijuana trafficking and had been released from custody only a few days prior to the shooting incident.

The condition of the injured Mehta remains critical, and further investigation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
