In a special ceremony held at the district headquarters, Khandbari, Sherpa was felicitated by the Makalu-2 Ward Office for her extraordinary achievement.
According to Ward Chairperson Chhopal Sherpa, Kippa reached the summit of the 8,485-meter-high Mount Makalu on Chaitra 28 at precisely 10:10 AM.
She completed the successful ascent as part of a nine-member team, contributing to the route-setting effort on the challenging peak.
Born on Magh 15, 2053 B.S., in the mountainous village of Nurbu, Kippa comes from a family deeply rooted in mountaineering.
Her husband and four brothers are also experienced climbers, having summited various high peaks, including Mount Everest.
Kippa shared that her prior experience—spending 45 days at the Makalu Base Camp a year ago—played a vital role in preparing her both physically and mentally for the summit push this season.
Her expedition was supported financially by Seven Summit Treks, a leading mountaineering company.
Makalu Rural Municipality is home to more than two dozen mountaineers, and Kippa’s accomplishment has brought pride and inspiration to the entire community.
