Govt. takes teachers’ demands seriously: Minister Khadka
Minister Khadka emphasized the importance of teachers’ input in reforming the education sector.

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has stated that the government is taking the demands of teachers seriously and is committed to addressing them through dialogue with stakeholders.
During a meeting with a delegation from the Nepal Teachers’ Association, Sankhuwasabha, at the Ministry today, Minister Khadka emphasized the importance of teachers’ input in reforming the education sector.
“To bring about meaningful improvements in education, the suggestions and advice of teachers are essential. I will raise these concerns with the Education Minister and the Cabinet,” he said.
The Minister also noted that discussions are currently underway for the drafting of new laws and that the government is actively working to formulate legislation that aligns with the times.
Sher Bahadur Puri, President of the Nepal Teachers’ Association, Sankhuwasabha, urged the Minister to take initiative in addressing the Association’s 24-point list of demands.
Federal representative Divya Raj Adhikari emphasized that the ongoing protest is not just a teachers’ movement but a broader educational movement.
Among the key demands put forth by teachers are: ensuring staff positions in schools, integrating early childhood development classes into the school education system, making teacher promotions regular, allowing internal competition, improving the grading system for teachers, and setting the age limit for entering the profession at 40 years.
