KATHMANDU: Police have arrested an Indian national at Tribhuvan International Airport after seizing 6.97 kilograms of cannabis from his possession.

According to Somendra Singh Rathour, Chief of Airport Security and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), the suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Visakh Vijayan.

He had arrived in Nepal last night via a Thai Airways flight transiting through Bangkok.

“The cannabis was discovered during a routine luggage inspection,” SSP Rathour stated. “Following the discovery, he was immediately taken into custody.”

Vijayan has been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau in Koteshwor for further investigation.
