KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has resumed its ‘People’s Postal Highway-Centric Terai-Madhesh Awakening Campaign’ from Gaindakot in Nawalpur.
The campaign, which had initially begun from Jhapa and was put on hold in Chitwan on March 21 (Chaitra 8), was relaunched today on the occasion of the Nepali New Year.
Former Prime Minister and Chair of the Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, along with his team, arrived in Gaindakot on Monday evening to kick off the next leg of the campaign.
Expressing his delight at restarting the campaign from Gaindakot, Chairman Dahal said the initiative aims to connect directly with the people along the Postal Highway, especially in the Terai-Madhes region.
The campaign formally resumed this morning from the Gaindakot Drinking Water Pumping Scheme located in Ward 4. As part of the launch, Chair Dahal and his team participated in a five-kilometer morning walk, according to Prakash Adhikari, Chairperson of the Maoist Centre Gaindakot Municipal Committee.
During the walk, Dahal paid floral tribute at the statue of Nepal’s first martyr, Lakhan Thapa, situated in Lakhan Chowk, Gaindakot-8.
The campaign also includes personal interactions with families of martyrs, well-wishers, and other party affiliates within the municipality.
Vice-Chair of the Maoist Centre, Nand Kishor Pun, is also actively participating in the campaign.
Later today, Chair Dahal is scheduled to address mass gatherings in Rajhar of Devchuli Municipality, Kawasoti – the district headquarters – and other locations across Nawalpur.
According to municipal chairman Adhikari, today’s campaign events will remain focused on the Nawalpur district.
The campaign is set to continue along the Postal Highway, eventually concluding in Kanchanpur district.
