Two held in Sunsari shooting; three still at large
The incident left 21-year-old Shivkumar Mehta critically injured.

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Monday evening in Devangunj Rural Municipality-7 of Sunsari district.
The incident left 21-year-old Shivkumar Mehta critically injured.
According to police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Ravinkumar Yadav and Pintu Yadav. Mehta, the injured victim, was reportedly riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by Pintu Yadav when the shooting occurred.
Three other suspects, including Kameshwar Yadav, remain at large.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Suman Timsina of the Sunsari District Police Office stated that the incident appears to be linked to a long-standing financial dispute. “Preliminary investigations suggest that all those involved have criminal backgrounds,” said SP Timsina.
One of the suspects was recently found to be involved in cannabis smuggling, police added. Ravin Yadav, in particular, has a prior history of drug trafficking. “The shooting seems to have resulted from internal conflicts within a group engaged in suspicious cross-border activities,” SP Timsina explained.
Mehta remains in critical condition. Authorities have intensified the search for the remaining suspects and confirmed that further investigation is underway.
