Just two minutes later, Giuliano Simeone fired Atletico into the lead with a fine finish, making it 2-1 by the 27th minute.
The visitors weren’t done yet — Javi Sanchez equalized for Valladolid in the 56th minute, setting up a tense second half.
Alvarez stepped up again in the 71st minute, converting his second penalty of the match to restore Atletico’s lead.
Alexander Sørloth then sealed the victory in the 79th minute, ensuring all three points for Diego Simeone’s side.
With the win, Atletico Madrid now sit third in the La Liga standings with 63 points from 31 matches.
Barcelona lead the table with 70 points, while Real Madrid remain second with 66 points.
