KATHMANDU: At least 11 people were injured in a pickup truck accident in Tamankhola Rural Municipality, Baglung district.

The vehicle was carrying municipal staff members when it crashed on the way to a popular tourist destination.

According to the District Police Office Baglung, the pickup truck, bearing registration number Ga 1 5705, was en route from Bongadoban Bazaar—the center of Tamankhola Rural Municipality—toward Barahatal, a well-known tourist site.

The accident occurred when the vehicle’s brakes failed while climbing uphill, causing it to crash.

Among the injured are:

  • Prem Rawal (26), Livestock Technician from Kankasundari Rural Municipality-2, Jumla

  • Sudarsan Kusari (32), Assistant Accounts Officer from Banfikot Rural Municipality-6, Rukum West

  • Sachin BK (29), Office Assistant from Tamankhola Rural Municipality-2

  • Nabin Malla (23), Technical Assistant from Chaurjahari Municipality-13, Rukum West

Other injured passengers include:

  • Mansari Sherchan (52), Former Vice Chairperson of Tamankhola Rural Municipality-1

  • Indrakumari Giri (63), Resident of the same area

  • Basanti Magar (25), Local resident

  • Sushil Rasaili (27), The driver

  • Mani Magar (12), Minor passenger

  • Jharna Giri (20), Resident of Tamankhola Rural Municipality-2

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bijay Yadav stated that two of the injured, Muna BK and Nabin Malla, are in serious condition and have been referred to Dhaulagiri Provincial Hospital in Baglung for advanced treatment.

The remaining victims are receiving care at Burtibang Hospital.

Authorities are investigating the incident further.
