“Swonigha” The new destination in town
KATHMANDU: Today on 1 st day of the Nepalese year 2082, Swonigha Resort Pvt. Ltd. took a significant step forward by organizing a Bhoomi Puja program along with prominent members of the local community for development of the property located at Gundu, Suryabinayak Municipality into a state-of-the-art five-star property that will comprise of an International branded 5 start hotel, time share model villas and a host of recreational centers under a new Nepalese brand name: “Swonigha”.
“Swonigha” is a word of Newari origin that means Kathmandu valley comprising of Kathmandu (Ya:), Lalitpur (Yala:) and Bhaktapur (Khwopa:).
This is a fitting name for a project that aims to recreate the traditional fabric of these cities along with their coexisting intangible cultural heritage like performing arts, traditional craftsmanship, food culture and history.
The proposed site sits on lap of beautiful Himalaya Range overseeing a hilltop full of dense forest in front that resembles “A Sleeping Buddha Sakyamuni” with Birdseye view of three ancient cities of Ya:, Yala: and Khwopa:.
This ambitious project will become a perfect destination for national and international enthusiasts of Nepalese culture, heritage, music, hospitality and as well for nature lovers. This destination will aim to promote Nepalese and local heritage while uplifting the local community.
This project will be developed as a luxury tourist destination for Nepalese and international guests and a perfect wellness center with emphasis on quality and healthy lifestyle. With the blessing of Pilot Baba, the project is fortunate to integrate the Pilot Baba Ashram as an essential part in this destination project with the quintessential blend of leisure, spiritual, art/culture, sports and lifestyle hospitality project.
The project is being undertaken by on quality Implementing Experts Group (IEG) in joint venture with S & JG Holdings (Australia).
IEG is represented by Amrit Ratna Shakya and Subarna Krishna Shrestha, who have been specializing in construction of mega structures such as temples, sattals at various international exhibitions for over 50 years now winning hearts and awards and also involved in the hospitality sector with investments in Summit Hotel, Airport Hotel & upcoming Oasis Hotel to name a few.
S & JG Investments Pty Ltd, Australia is a FDI company with direct ownership of Shesh Ghale and Jamuna Ghale Gurung. Both of them are amongst one of the most prominent Non-Resident Nepalese (NRNs) actively involved in Education, Hospitality & real estate sectors globally.
S & JG through their sister concern MIT Group Holdings is already building a five-star luxury hotel in the heart of the Kathmandu in Kantipath which is expected to come into operation later this year and expected to be one of highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the hospitality sectors. S & JG is also vividly exploring other tourism related business opportunities outside Kathmandu and will soon be making a foray in the Energy Sector as well.
Besides their various global business interests, Shesh Ghale is also a former President of the Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) and also keenly involved in a host of other philanthropic organizations both in Nepal & abroad.
This project with an estimate investment of over Rs 4.75 billion will comprise of an International branded 5-star hotel with 60 villa resorts in time share model, is expected to be completed by November, 2027. The property shall have distinct focus on creating a new destination for MICE events (Meeting, Incentive, Conference, Exhibition), international seminar, destination wedding hub, music center, amphitheater (live demonstration of art, culture and music), Yoga, Meditation and Spiritual as well as Sport activities (rock
climbing, hiking, biking) culminating into the ultimate destination for Food & Beverage, wellness & recreational activities.
