KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office (DAO) of Parsa has decided to lift the curfew that was imposed on Saturday evening, effective from midnight on Sunday. According to Chief District Officer (CDO) Ganesh Aryal, the decision was made following a comprehensive evaluation of the security situation, which was deemed to be improving.
CDO Aryal stated, “Given the gradual improvement in the overall security condition, it has been concluded that continuing the curfew is no longer necessary.”
However, the administration has maintained prohibitory orders in some sensitive areas of Birgunj Metropolitan City, citing the need for continued vigilance. The areas under restriction include Gandak Chowk, Sirsia Pul, Bypass Road, and the vicinity of Shankaracharya Gate.
In these areas, gatherings, rallies, processions, and demonstrations have been banned until further notice under Section 6 (3a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028 BS.
The administration has also warned of strict legal action against anyone found violating the orders.
The curfew was initially imposed at 6:30 PM on Saturday following a clash between two groups, prompting authorities to take urgent security measures.
