Deuba hails Nepal’s constitution for its inclusivity & proportional representation
He also highlighted that the Constitution makes it challenging for any one party to secure an absolute majority, but it provides a framework that unites diverse groups.

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President and Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that the current Constitution of Nepal is capable of uniting everyone and is based on full proportional representation.
Addressing the Eid celebration and New Year greetings event organized by the Nepal Muslim Association on Sunday, Deuba emphasized that it is because of the inclusive nature of the Constitution that all segments of society have been integrated into the country’s governance structures.
He also highlighted that the Constitution makes it challenging for any one party to secure an absolute majority, but it provides a framework that unites diverse groups.
He said, “Nepal’s Constitution is an excellent one. It is a Constitution that brings everyone together. Although it is difficult for any single party to gain a majority, this Constitution is capable of uniting all. It is based on full proportionality and inclusivity. It includes representation for indigenous people, tribals, Muslims, Tharus, Madhesis, and women. Therefore, this Constitution has played a very significant and crucial role.”
Deuba further stated that the Nepali Congress party itself follows an inclusive and proportional framework, which has allowed the Muslim community to have representation within the party.
He also noted that the party’s charter is based on inclusive proportionality, and as a result, there are Muslim leaders within the Nepali Congress.
He added that the Muslim community is well-represented within the Nepali Congress, thanks to the party’s inclusive constitution.
