KATHMANDU: Four family members have been detained by the police in connection with the murder of a woman found dead in the Panchakanya Community Forest of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-6.

The body of 34-year-old Chhunkumari Dahal (Budhathoki), who had been murdered and discarded, was discovered on Monday.

After investigations, the police concluded that family members were involved in her death.

As a result, her brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law were taken into custody for further questioning. Another individual has also been arrested as the investigation progresses.

DSP Prakash Jabegu of the Dharan Area Police Office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. While some individuals have been detained for questioning, it remains uncertain whether they were directly involved in the murder, and the identities of the detained individuals are being kept confidential at this stage.

Chhunkumari’s husband, Prem Bahadur Budhathoki, who works in South Korea, had recently returned to Nepal and was planning to return to Korea after about three months.

Authorities have suggested that marital discord between the couple might have played a role in the incident.

The police are examining various angles of the case as the investigation continues.
