The Chief Minister shared this information while addressing a programme in Panchakanya Rural Municipality-4, Nuwakot district on Friday.

TRISHULI (Nuwakot): Chief Minister of the Bagmati Province, Bahadur Singh Lama (Tamang), has said the provincial government is launching a plan to protect agricultural land from erosion due to rivers and streams with a view to preventing farmers from becoming landless.
The Chief Minister shared this information while addressing a programme in Panchakanya Rural Municipality-4, Nuwakot district on Friday.
He said that the plan aims to recover and rehabilitate the land that has been rendered uncultivable due to erosion by rivers and rivulets.
A budget of Rs 300 million has been provided for the project, which is being launched as a model scheme in some districts of Bagmati province from this year, he said.
“We will provide relief to the affected farmers by controlling the erosion of Tandi and Likhu rivulets of Nuwakot and protecting the damaged lands which have been rendered uncultivable,” he said.
The programme, which will start as a model in Nuwakot, aims to conserve 28,000 ropanis of land damaged by Likhu and Tandi rivulets.
Chief Minister Tamang expressed the belief that the land on the banks of rivers and streams would be recovered and made fit for cultivation.
He added that facilities including irrigation would contribute significantly to increasing the agricultural production from such recovered land.
