Filmmaker Lopchan selected for prestigious Busan Asian Film School fellowship
All phases of script development and pre-production will take place in Busan under the mentorship of global industry experts.

KATHMANDU: Rising Nepali filmmaker Jason Lopchan has been selected to attend the world-renowned Busan Asian Film School (AFiS) in South Korea — a prestigious opportunity offered to only 18 emerging film professionals across Asia each year.
Jason, who recently gained recognition for directing Nepal’s first iPhone-shot feature film, is currently in Busan, where he will spend the next eight months collaborating with international producers and preparing for his second feature film.
All phases of script development and pre-production will take place in Busan under the mentorship of global industry experts.
The filming of his next project is scheduled to take place in Nepal in 2026, Lopchan confirmed.
His debut film, “A Place Under the Sun,” is currently streaming on MSM Video.
Prior to this, he also directed the music video for ‘Marphako Madira,’ a popular song performed by Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah.
Jason’s selection to AFiS not only marks a personal milestone but also highlights Nepal’s growing presence in the international film scene.
