FSU election: NSU wins key posts in Kailali Multiple Campus

KATHMANDU: In the Free Student Union (FSU) elections held on Wednesday at Kailali Multiple Campus, the Nepal Student Union (NSU), affiliated with the Nepali Congress, has secured a majority, including the crucial position of campus president.

NSU candidate Santosh Pant won the presidency with 827 votes, defeating his closest rival Pawan Sunar of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), who secured 528 votes.

Yamraj Joshi of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) received 427 votes, while Ambika Chaudhary of the Student Unity Group garnered 92 votes, and Sunilraj Joshi of ANNFSU trailed with 68 votes.

In the race for Secretary, NSU’s Om Prakash Wosti emerged victorious with 697 votes, ahead of ANNFSU’s Kiran Prasad Upadhyay, who obtained 498 votes.

However, in the contest for Treasurer, Dharma Raj Timilsina of ANNISU (Revolutionary) defeated NSU’s Pramila Shah by a narrow margin of just 4 votes, winning with 408 votes to Shah’s 404.

For the member positions, NSU candidates Ram Rokaya, Sarita Bhatta, Poojan Bista, Janak Khadka, Devendra Dhami, Binita Chaudhary, Ram Bahadur Bogati, Pooja Od, and Ganesh Dahal were elected.

Out of a total of 3,592 registered voters, 2,057 votes were cast. 72 votes were invalidated.

Kailali Multiple Campus is known for having the highest number of voters among campuses in the Sudurpashchim Province.
