KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, emphasized that there is no alternative to building an economically prosperous Nepal and ensuring political stability in order to advance on the path of socialism.

Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu on Friday, Dahal highlighted that Nepal is committed to moving forward with a socialist vision, and expressed confidence that the Chinese government will continue to support Nepal in this pursuit.

He noted that both houses of the Federal Parliament had recently passed, with full consensus, the legislation required to complete the remaining tasks of Nepal’s peace process—particularly related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission on the Investigation of Enforced Disappearances.

Chair Dahal claimed that Nepal’s unique approach to concluding its peace process has garnered international praise.

He further underlined the close and trustworthy relationship between Nepal and China, noting that despite sharing a common border, there remains substantial work to be done in the area of connectivity.

He remarked that Nepal has yet to fully capitalize on the development and opportunities presented by China’s progress.

Dahal expressed a strong commitment to developing Nepal-China relations as a model of peace, friendship, and prosperity.

Highlighting Nepal’s political achievements, Dahal stated that the country has successfully adopted a federal democratic republican constitution through an elected Constituent Assembly, ensuring proportional representation, inclusion, secularism, and a commitment to socialism.
