KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has affirmed the government’s commitment to developing a modern, well-organized, and environmentally friendly transportation system in Nepal.

Speaking at the inauguration of an international conference that began in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Dahal highlighted the government’s proactive efforts in improving the country’s transport infrastructure.

He emphasized that environmental concerns are being considered from the early stages of infrastructure development, with a focus on minimizing ecological damage and promoting eco-friendly modes of transportation.

“Transport and environmental sustainability are now global concerns,” Minister Dahal stated, adding that Nepal aims to build a sustainable, technology-driven, inclusive, and user-friendly transport system.

He also underlined the importance of constructing safe, resilient, and green road infrastructure, expanding road networks to connect urban and rural areas, and enhancing public transportation and road safety.
