Govt. to amend Foreign Employment & Labor Acts: Minister Bhandari
He also informed that the government has already scrapped the previous decision that prohibited sending domestic workers abroad for employment.

KATHMANDU: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, has announced that the government is preparing to amend the Foreign Employment Act and the Labor Act to make them more relevant to current times.
Addressing the 30th and 31st Annual General Meetings of the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies (NAFEA) on Friday, Minister Bhandari stated that consultations are being held with stakeholders to gather suggestions for the amendments.
“The laws need to be updated to reflect contemporary realities and to ensure the rights of workers. Coordination between the government and the private sector is crucial to achieve this,” Bhandari emphasized.
He also informed that the government has already scrapped the previous decision that prohibited sending domestic workers abroad for employment.
“Based on past experiences, we are identifying legal obstacles that hinder the foreign employment sector. We are now in the process of revising the Foreign Employment Act and Labor Act accordingly. I have personally dealt with situations where legal issues forced companies to shut down, and we resolved them through legal reforms,” Bhandari added.
The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to making foreign employment dignified and well-regulated.
