KATHMANDU: Chair of the Aam Janata Party (AAP), Prabhu Sah, has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, accusing him of exhibiting a “double standard” in political conduct.

Sah claimed that the country and its people are bearing the brunt of the Prime Minister’s inconsistent and self-serving actions.

In a statement released via social media, Sah criticized PM Oli for misusing his power and position.

The remarks come in the wake of a recent political development in which Vijay Mahato, the ward chair of Dhangadhimai Municipality-7 in Siraha — originally elected from the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) — was welcomed into the CPN-UML by Oli with a ceremonial tika and garland.

Drawing a stark contrast, Sah reminded the public of a decision taken under Oli’s leadership in Ashoj 2080, when Rina Kumari Sah, the mayor of Maulapur Municipality in Rautahat, was removed from her position for joining another party. He questioned the fairness of the government’s approach: “If Vijay Mahato’s entry into the UML is considered valid, then why was Rina Kumari Sah dismissed from her post?”

Further condemning the Prime Minister’s actions, Sah added, “Mr. Prime Minister, please show at least a shred of ethics and shame. The country is exhausted by your double standards. Do not make unjust decisions blinded by the arrogance of power and position.”
