KATHMANDU: A three-month-old infant has gone missing under mysterious circumstances from Thantikandh Rural Municipality-1, Siradi Gwalipinna in Dailekh district.

The missing child, identified as Shriya Budha, is the daughter of Bambahadur Budha.

According to the family, the incident occurred around 9 PM last night when a sudden fire broke out in a stack of hay stored behind their house.

While the family rushed outside to extinguish the fire, Shriya, who had been sleeping inside, disappeared without a trace. Her older brother, who was sleeping beside her, was found unharmed.

Bambahadur’s brother, Deepak Budha, suspects foul play, suggesting that someone may have deliberately set the fire as a distraction to kidnap the child.

Locals immediately informed the police, and a team was dispatched to the scene the same night. However, despite an intensive search, no concrete leads have been found so far.

District Police Chief Sunil Dahal described the case as “baffling” and confirmed that the investigation has been intensified. “We have deployed additional police forces and are leaving no stone unturned in the search,” Dahal stated.

The mysterious disappearance has left the local community in shock, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in locating the missing infant.
