Two women seriously injured by lightning strike
The victims have been identified as Krishnamaya Khadka and Devika Bhujel, both residents of Chhitapokhari.
KHOTANG: Diprung Chuichumma Rural Municipality–6, Chhitapokhari – Two women sustained serious injuries after being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm on Thursday.
The victims have been identified as Krishnamaya Khadka and Devika Bhujel, both residents of Chhitapokhari.
According to local sources, Krishnamaya was inside her house working in the kitchen when lightning struck her home.
The impact caused her to lose consciousness, and her relatives reported seeing flames enter the house at the moment of the strike.
Devika Bhujel, who lives slightly downhill from Krishnamaya, suffered a deep head injury after hitting her head while panicking during the incident, according to Bhupendra Basnet, the spokesperson of Diprung Chuichumma Rural Municipality.
Both women were immediately taken to Okhre Basic Hospital in Ward No. 2, Dandagau, for treatment.
Devika received five stitches on her head. Rural Municipality Chairperson Lokendra Rai personally arranged a vehicle and transported the injured women to the hospital, Basnet added.
Local authorities and medical personnel are monitoring the condition of both women closely.
