Madhesh Assembly Speaker orders high-level probe into govt. allegations

KATHMANDU: The Speaker of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly, Ramchandra Mandal, has directed the formation of a high-level investigation committee to look into the questions raised against the government.
The directive was issued during Wednesday’s meeting.
Opposition lawmakers had disrupted the session on the March23, demanding answers from the government.
Following this, an all-party meeting agreed to form an investigation committee.
In line with this agreement, the Speaker has now instructed the formation of the committee.
Opposition MPs have accused the government of engaging in fraudulent activities, including the buying and selling of plans, taking commissions on conditional grants, and showing bias in the allocation of funds, with 5 million allocated to direct MPs and 1.5 million to proportional MPs.
