KATHMANDU: A man has died after being struck by lightning in Balubathan, Ward No. 5 of Gauradaha Municipality, Jhapa, today.

The incident occurred while 54-year-old Dukhkumar Lawati was having a snack at his home.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka from the District Police Office, Lawati died on the spot due to the lightning strike.

Lavati, a permanent resident of Miklajung-3, Aru Bhote in Panchthar, had been working as a sharecropper in Gauradaha, Jhapa, for the family of Gomanath Chemjung.

The police confirmed that the necessary legal procedures have been completed, and the body has been sent to Damak Hospital for postmortem examination.
