Commission formed to investigate Tinkune incident

KATHMANDU: A commission has been formed to investigate the incident that occurred in Tinkune during the royalist movement.

On Wednesday, the Joint People’s Movement Committee formed the commission under the leadership of senior advocate Devendra Lal Nepali to probe the events surrounding the restoration of the monarchy.

A meeting held today in Kathmandu announced the formation of the committee, as shared by Spokesperson of the Joint People’s Movement Committee, Swagat Nepal.

The commission’s members include former Additional Inspector General of Police, Rabi Raj Thapa, Dr. Ram Prasad Upreti from the medical sector, Dr. Gyan Basnet, a PhD in human rights, and advocate Hari Kattel.

The proposal to form the commission was signed by Acting Coordinator of the Joint People’s Movement Committee, Dr. Jagman Gurung, Keshar Bahadur Bist, Chairperson of National Power Nepal, an umbrella organization of 36 federations, tourism entrepreneur and social worker Bharat Basnet, scholar Dr. Ratnakamal Vaidya, and spiritual leader RB Basnet.

Additionally, the proposal received the endorsement of 39 organizations and prominent personalities, including Suresh Acharya, Rima Singh, Asmita Bhandari, former administrator Haribahadur Basnet, Coordinator of the National Citizens’ Struggle Committee Naresh Bahadur Singh, Dhurva Khatwada, Yadabraj Pandey, Niraakar Regmi, Deepak Maharaj, Aatrey: Newa Unity, and civil society members such as Ranjita Shrestha.
