KATHMANDU: Dr. Jagman Gurung, the acting coordinator of the Republic Restoration People’s Movement Committee, has announced plans for a mass arrest on the upcoming 22nd of Baisakh.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Dr. Gurung stated that the committee has given the government until 21st Baisakh to release the committee’s president and the detained leaders who were arrested following the Tinkune incident.

He warned that if the leaders are not released by the deadline, they will initiate a peaceful protest with a mass arrest, marking the occasion with soil stained with the blood of the youths who died during the Tinkune incident.

Dr. Gurung emphasized that the movement would be led through non-violent civil disobedience, calling on all those interested to join the cause.

He firmly stated that the committee has no intention of resorting to armed or violent protests and believes that the peaceful disobedience campaign would lead to success.

Addressing claims from opposition groups that the movement had lost momentum following the Tinkune incident and that the restoration of the monarchy was no longer a possibility, Dr. Gurung confidently asserted that the monarchy would be restored sooner or later through the ongoing campaign.
