Rainfall brings relief to polluted Kathmandu valley
The weather is being influenced by a combination of western winds, local winds, and moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal.

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Meteorological Forecasting Division has reported ongoing rainfall across various districts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.
Light rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is currently affecting districts such as Jhapa, Sunsari, Sindhupalchok, Salyan, Dang, and Palpa.
The weather is being influenced by a combination of western winds, local winds, and moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal.
Meteorologists forecast that the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy across the country on Wednesday night.
There is a likelihood of light to moderate rainfall, along with thunder and lightning, in several areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini provinces, and other parts of the hilly region.
Additionally, there is a chance of light rain or snowfall in some high-altitude and Himalayan areas.
Experts suggest that the recent rainfall will bring much-needed relief to the Kathmandu Valley, where the air quality has been heavily polluted in recent days.
The pollution has caused discomfort for many residents, with a notable increase in cases of eye irritation, sore throats, and respiratory issues.
Hospitals have reported a rise in patients suffering from these ailments, underlining the urgent need for cleaner air.
