KATHMANDU: Actor Bipin Karki is stepping out of his comfort zone and making his debut in an action role for the first time in the movie Karma. Known for his work in social dramas, Bipin is now portraying an action character in Karma.

How did he prepare for this new genre? Director Saurabh Chaudhary’s initial offer was enough to convince Bipin to take on the role.

A fan of exploring new genres and stories, Bipin was excited to dive into the action genre.

For his role in Karma, Bipin took several steps to get into shape, including losing weight and hitting the gym. Director Saurabh Chaudhary has a unique perspective on Nepali action films. He believes that the language of action cinema needs to be redefined. In many Nepali films, there are only three to four action sequences, and that is often considered enough to label a film as an “action movie.” However, Saurabh questions whether a film can truly be called an action movie if it is driven primarily by emotions, even if it has a few action sequences. He insists that if a film is categorized as an action movie, its action sequences should follow suit.

With Karma, which is set to release on Chait 29, this debate takes center stage. The international distribution rights have been secured by Seven Seas Cinemas.

The film is produced by Artistic Entertainment and features performances by Bipin Karki, Upasana Singh Thakuri, Mukun Bhusal, Sarita Giri, Divyadeb, Ben Basnet, Sujan Silwal, Anil Budhathoki, Nirmal Sharma, and others.

Karma blends drama, suspense, and action, making it a unique entry in Nepali cinema.

The film is backed by investment from Basant Lamsal, with cinematography by Sanjay Lama, background score and sound design by Uttam Neupane, music direction by Bhaskar Swarn, choreography by Kabiraj Gahatraj, action direction by Shree Shrestha, and editing by Nimesh Shrestha.
