KATHMANDU: Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall has been recorded in various locations across the country’s different provinces.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, rainfall was observed in several districts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

In the Koshi province, rainfall was measured in Sankhuwasabha and Solukhumbu, while in the Bagmati province, areas such as Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, and Rasuwa saw rainfall.

Gandaki province recorded rainfall in districts like Kaski, Baglung, Myagdi, and Parbat. Similarly, in the Lumbini province, rainfall was measured in districts such as Rolpa, Pyuthan, and Palpa.

A few areas in Karnali province also experienced rainfall. The highest recorded rainfall was in the Muna area of Myagdi district, where 32.6 millimeters of rain was measured.

Other notable rainfall totals include 22 millimeters in Chandrakhuma (Sindhupalchok), 19.4 millimeters in Gumthang, and 12.8 millimeters in Duwachaur.

In Jhapa, significant rainfall was recorded in Bahundangi, with 21.4 millimeters of rain.

Additionally, 19.8 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in the Dalli station of Jajarkot in Karnali.

In Rukum West, a few areas like the Musikot Municipality-9 in Choukhabang experienced hailstorms.

These hailstorms have caused damage to wheat, vegetables, and fruit crops.

In Kavre, rainfall of 7.6 millimeters was recorded in the Roshi Khola area, but neighboring Kathmandu Valley saw little to no rainfall.

Light showers were reported in Sanku, but no significant rainfall was recorded elsewhere.

Though rain was expected in Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon, it did not occur.

However, meteorologists predict light to moderate rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday).

Since early morning, clouds have gathered, and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected in the afternoon or evening.

The amount of rainfall will depend on how the cloud development progresses, according to meteorologists.

Currently, the country is under the influence of a western wind, local air, and moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal.

As a result, many areas of the country are experiencing cloud cover, rain, and snowfall.

Senior meteorologist Shanti Kandel forecasts that light to moderate rainfall may occur in some parts of the Koshi and Madhesh provinces on April 9, while other regions will see only light rainfall in a few places.
