KATHMANDU: Rastirya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip, Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi, has accused Maoist activists of engaging in arson and vandalism of both public and private property. He made this allegation while addressing a public gathering in Balkhu organized by RAPRPA on Tuesday.

Shahi further claimed that the party’s leaders, Dhawal Shumser Rana, Ravindra Mishra, and Pashupati Khadka, were imprisoned under false charges and through orchestrated acts of vandalism by Maoist supporters.

He warned the government, stating that if the detained RPP leaders and activists are not released, the day would come when the people would surround the homes of the democratic leaders. Shahi questioned, “When the people surround your homes, where will you run?”

The Chief Whip also emphasized that the actions of the government had been exposed, confirming that Maoist activists were behind the destruction of property and arson.

He accused the authorities of using such violent tactics and false charges to imprison their party’s members.

He also criticized successive governments, accusing them of selling industries rather than developing them.

Shahi concluded his speech by urging the government to stop the false imprisonment attempts, stating, “If the attempts to imprison continue, thousands of people will surround your homes. Where will you go? Immediately withdraw these false charges.”
