KATHMANDU: Rajendra Lingden, the president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has emphasized the need for a new political consensus involving all political forces, to chart a way forward for Nepal.
Speaking at a warning gathering held in Balkhu on Tuesday, he expressed that the current state of the country cannot continue as is.
Lingden stated, “The country must move forward, but it cannot do so on its current path. Therefore, a new consensus is necessary. Let us build a new system by bringing together the best elements of the past and present in a peaceful manner, with agreement from all political forces.”
He further outlined his vision for the future, proposing a system where the people would be the ultimate sovereign power, and the king would serve as a symbolic, parental institution.
According to him, in this new system, the people would elect a prime minister through direct elections, and the nation would be declared a Sanatan Hindu Nation with a strong central government and empowered local bodies.
Additionally, Lingden called for a zero-tolerance policy on corruption, free education and healthcare, and the creation of domestic employment opportunities.
In his remarks, Lingden emphasized that such a system would usher Nepal into a new era of prosperity and progress, ensuring a robust, inclusive governance model.
